Artificial Intelligence becomes more sophisticated nowadays. It will lead to mass unemployment. Even, AI constantly pushing the boundaries of what machines are capable of. Now, the Tesla founder Elon Musk want to connect man and machine through a new startup. He is planning to develop futuristic Brain Implant i.e., neural lace technology.
Recently Elon launched a company Neuralink with the aim of connecting human brains directly with computers. Neuralink wants to develop so-called “neural lace” technology. The neural lace technology implants tiny electrodes into the brain that could give direct computing capabilities.
In this neural lace technology, a device allows humans to issue direct commands to computers just by thinking—firing neural signals and stimulating the device.
Still, Musk has not officially announced about it. But he tweeted, “more details about Neuralink would be published soon.”
He said, “I think if we can effectively merge with AI by improving the neural link between the cortex and your digital extension of yourself, which already exists but just has a bandwidth issue, then effectively, you become an AI-human symbiote.”
“And if that then is widespread, and anyone who wants it can have it, then we solve the control problem as well. We don’t have to worry about some evil dictator AI because we are the AI collectively. That seems like the best outcome I can think of,“ he said.
Currently, such type of brain-computer interfaces exists today only in science fiction. But if it will use in medical realms, it could help physicists to ameliorate the effects of Parkinson’s, epilepsy, and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Braintree co-founder Bryan Johnson said, “We know if we put a chip in the brain and release electrical signals, that we can ameliorate symptoms of Parkinson’s. This has been done for spinal cord pain, obesity, anorexia. The remaining is the reading and writing of neural code.”
Although, it is not known what the brain chip could be used for. It will be the ‘thing that really matters for humanity to achieve symbiosis with machines.
